Queen City Arts

Once again, it's time for the Queen City Saturday Pop-UP Gallery.  Several of my paintings will be on display for one day only--this Saturday, June 15 from 1-5pm at 330 Main Street in Poughkeepsie, NY.  The gallery is in the perfect location to combine with a trip to Artist's Palate, Brasserie 292 or Bull & Buddha.

Also, mark your calendars for July 20 when there will be a Queen City Block Party full of artists, musicians and more.

Queen City Arts is an advocacy project created by the Dutchess County Arts Council to provide information and promote area artists and cultural events in Poughkeepsie, NY.  We are working to revitalize Poughkeepsie - "The Queen City of the Hudson" through arts-driven partnerships with local artists, residents and business owners.  http://QueenCityArts.org

My work goes political!

Thanks to a collaboration on the part of New York Assembly Member Didi Barrett and Linda Marston-Reid, president of the Dutchess County Arts Council, my work will be hanging in Ms. Barrett's Poughkeepsie office through the summer.  Between the two women, I'm thrilled to have such great support of the arts in Poughkeepsie!

I adore painting this striped fabric.  This was a very fun painting to conceive and create--from the variety of colors due to 2 light sources to the many diagonals that make it a little dizzying.

Les Arums

This painting was inspired by the Tamara de Lempicka painting "Les Arums" (hence the title, of course!).

Small Wonders at Waddle n Swaddle

POUGHKEEPSIE ARTIST LYNN ESTEBAN
TO EXHIBIT “SMALL WONDERS” AT LOCAL BOUTIQUE

February 13, 2009 -- Poughkeepsie resident and award-winning artist Lynn Esteban will be the sole exhibitor at locally owned and operated maternity boutique Waddle n Swaddle, located at 37 Raymond Avenue in Poughkeepsie, NY 12603, throughout the month of April. Dubbed “Small Wonders,” the series of intimate oil paintings, featuring twisted and knotted fabric symbolic of pregnancy and motherhood, will be displayed throughout the store.

To celebrate, the public is invited to an artist’s reception from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18th. The Third Saturday opening coincides with the Poughkeepsie Art Hop, which is designed to call attention to the diverse talent of local artists.

Esteban’s oil paintings use still lifes of fabric and ribbon to symbolize sexuality and womanhood. The intricately draped fabrics unravel off the canvas, further pulling in the viewer, while her classical training is clear in the delicate rendering of light and color.

“These unique paintings are powerful and deliciously executed,” notes Waddle n Swaddle owner Jenn Sullivan. “I’m proud to present them in the context of my maternity boutique.” To view images of Esteban’s paintings, please visit http://LynnEsteban.blogspot.com. Visit Waddle n Swaddle online at http://www.waddlenswaddle.com.

Waddle n Swaddle is located in the heart of Poughkeepsie’s newly refreshed Arlington Business District, adjacent to Zimmer Brothers, at 37 Raymond Avenue. The boutique is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and on Thursdays, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
